In July of 2022 I visited Madrid, well prepared with my Spanish language practice and an appetite whetted for good food! So, it should come as no surprise that my Spanish was insufficient and I struggled significantly with the restaurant experience. But despite my shortcomings as an Hispanophile, the trip was awesome and this video covers some of the highlights. The Casa de Campo is a huge park just outside of Madrid that includes a lake, a zoo and aquarium, an amusement park, and a huge undeveloped area.
This is one of two videos covering Madrid. The other one (coming up) covers the nearby town of Toledo and has more running video from the Casa de Campo.
This is a very short video about a hike to the "M" above the University of Montana in Missoula we did as part of the Road Trip Across America I did with my daughter in June of 2022. There is not much video here! I didn't really capture the essence of the stop in Missoula, but I hope you enjoy the video anyway!
One of my favorite documentaries has been King Corn. In it, they visit the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota. On the cross country trip with my daughter’s family we stopped in Mitchell and visited the Corn Palace. It was surprisingly cool and interesting. And you know me! I also managed to get a run in at Lake Mitchell.
As part of our Road Trip Around America, we stopped at the Badlands National Park. The weather and the scenery were spectacular, and as usual I couldn't resist going for a run.
I spent some time in June of 2022 with my daughter and her family that live in Sanford, ME. As you would expect I spent quite a bit of time in town, and did some runs. So here is a review of Sanford, and some rainy run pictures.
In June of 2022 I took a road trip with my daughter and her family. We had a great time and saw many of the cool sights this country has to offer.
We also took their trumpets. These "pocket" trumpets were a little easier to pack, but are real trumpets. They played in many of the places we visited, and this video is of their trumpet playing.
The two primary trumpet players are Alex and Emma. They are students at Sanford High School in Sanford, ME.
The audio was provided by a unique organization in Medford, OR that recorded one of the trumpet sessions for us. That recording forms the basis of this video,
In the summer of 2022 I went on a cross country road trip with my daughter Lisa and her family. One of our stops was at her grandparents house in Medford Oregon, where we did a little cleaning and maintenance on their model T hot rod.
The hot rod is a conglomeration of parts from various vehicles, and it has been owned by three generations. It was difficult to start, and required more work than you would think to get it running. But we had a great time getting it going.
Every year there are three organized bike rides I like to do. One of them is the Petal Pedal. This is the first time since the onset of COVID that this ride has been held. Yeah! In what I think is a huge irony, the weather was much worse than it was in March during the Worst Day of the Year Ride! But no matter! I was prepared for the rain and had a really nice ride.
The town of Castle Rock, Washington, is not too far from my home. Since I didn't know anything about it, and had recently found out that there is an actual rock called Castle Rock, which the town is named after, I thought it might be fun to go take a look. So, I did a run, explored the town, and explored the town's Riverfront trail.
As I was looking at Google Maps a little while ago I noticed that there was a trailhead for the hike to the Warrior Rock lighthouse. I had heard you could walk to it, but I was a little surprised that the trail was so well developed. As a result, I couldn't resist a visit!
As part of my travels I stayed a night at Clyde Holliday State Park. Yawn!! I also took a quick side trip to Magone Lake, but it was a little early in the year to be able to do a run there. This is a very short video, and if my other videos bored you, this one will really put you to sleep....
In late March of 2022 I made a swing through central Oregon and caught some of the sights! Gray Butte and Smith Rock State Park were awesome, and a joy to see. The rodeo was fun.
